I started out like many Lord of Ultima players do, as a minor player. My alliance foolishly recruited everyone in all chat on our continent. In the beginning our alliance enjoyed fast growth, friendship and fun. We mistakenly believed we were the strongest alliance on the continent because of our rankings.
We thought we could win the game but we were wrong, dead wrong!
War came to our alliance. War tests and reveals the true character of alliances and the
strength and cunning of the players in
them. The best players of our alliance were easily defeated. Crushed in
battle, our leaders fled -- without any guidance we were doomed! One by one
-- our players were systematically slaughtered!
My Head Was Next On The Chopping Block!
I was next to be attacked. The enemy began building castles rapidly in my territory. I felt the noose tightening around my neck. I was running out of time and out of options soon I knew the ax would fall.
Then... I got a lucky break. I met a stranger who taught me how to avoid having my head lopped off. He took me under his wing and showed me how to reorganize my empire. I gained strength and began fighting the enemy back!
Incredibly with his top player guidance, I was taking back lost castles and valuable territory
around shrines. Impressed with my abilities, the enemy invited me to
join their alliance.
Now I was privy to all their winning strategies. By the end of the game I won a first place victory! My crowning feat was I had taken back most of my original continent.

Then the two alliances went to
WAR!
The top alliance thought they would beat down their enemies easy but
that's not what happened. The big alliance's enemies seemed to know where they
were going to hit and won most of the fights. The enemy kept attacking and
busting up the top alliance's best players.
One by one the top players quit or defected to the enemy.
Soon whole continents were changing hands or under invasion. Then the small
enemy merged with another powerful alliance and it was all over! The former
